In 2023, the Elkins Park Library was awarded a grant to join the Family Place Libraries™ national network. We acknowledge the importance of play in the early years and strive to provide a welcoming, comfortable space for families with young children to engage with developmentally appropriate toys. We have expanded our play space to include a play kitchen, manipulatives, infant toys, puzzles, and more. We hold a five-week Play & Learn parent/child workshop series for toddlers, parents and caregivers twice a year. This fun, play-based workshop provides an environment rich with developmentally appropriate toys, books, and art/sensory activities and an opportunity for families to spend time together, make friends, learn about community resources, and talk one-on-one with early childhood and family support specialists.
