The Play & Learn workshops provide an opportunity for parents and caregivers with an enjoyable experience in their local library, especially those who are unaware of the pleasure and benefits of library use. The Play & Learn Workshops have been instrumental in increasing community awareness of the library as an early learning resource. The workshops prove a venue for families with young children to arm themselves with opportunities to be successful parents and nurtures of their child/ren’s early success. These workshops have also helped strengthen parent/caregiver’s confidence and skills in supporting their children’s early development, learning, and literacy skills. Most importantly, parents learn that they do not need a college degree to be a good teacher; they can make use of daily conversation, interaction, and use everyday objects as learning tools.
