Adopting the Family Place model has helped our libraries to thrive, while also supporting our families in ways that make a lasting impact. By focusing on the well-being of the whole child, our libraries offer vibrant community hubs that cater to young children, their caregivers and families. With developmentally appropriate early learning spaces, literacy-based programming, and knowledgeable staff, our libraries intentionally support early literacy and lifelong learning. Sheridan Library is located in a high-need area, and being a Family Place Library has allowed us to further strengthen our community partnerships with area schools and agencies. We have done extensive outreach with the local community and collaborative programming for children that attend school a short walk away. The Family Place Workshop brings families from far distances and adults enjoy being able to connect with the local early childhood council and free early childhood support. Arapahoe Libraries’ vision is a literate, informed and fulfilled community. With this investment in our community via Family Place, we see our youngest included in that vision.
