As a Family Place Library, the Rochester Hills Public Library offers a variety of developmentally appropriate early literacy programs, is inviting to families with young children, and is a pillar of the community. The library is a place for families to play, meet friends, hear stories, sing songs, dance, build, create, learn, explore, and discover. Our early literacy programs, including the parent child workshop, storytimes, and numerous other programs, regularly reach capacity and require waiting lists. During a normal storytime session, we service around 200 children each week. Our wildly popular play area, the “Explore Zone,” sees upwards of 350 visitors each week. And, our early literacy bookmobile, “The Big Blue Bus,” visits 24 preschools and child care centers in the community on a bi-monthly basis, regularly seeing 275 young children and their teachers each week. The Rochester Hills Public Library is truly committed to providing valuable and meaningful early literacy experiences to all families with young children in our community!
