The Central Islip Public Library has created a warm and welcoming space for preschool children and their parents. From a variety of enriching programs tailored for children starting at birth, to a well-kept and up-to-date Parents' Collection, we constantly strive to keep up with the needs of our parents and children. We have a newly-updated toddler play area filled with age-appropriate books, toys, puzzles, comfy seating, and more. Through our years as a Family Place Library, we have seen the growth of our early childhood audience, and we have had several families grow up with us from birth until they graduate to the Teen Department. Because of this, we have been able to stress the importance of literacy from an early age to our families, and we have had several parents credit their child's early love of reading for their academic success. Our weekly Wednesday and Friday morning toddler programs provide a fun and unique opportunity for children to socialize, and throughout their years attending, we see genuine change and growth, and their parents often credit these programs for their child's improvements.
