Mattituck-Laurel Library

Mattituck-Laurel Library takes pride in being part of the Family Place Network. As one of the original ten libraries we recognized the importance of providing information and activities to assist those who care for children. Our parenting collection is constantly updated and easily accessible. We have created a Parenting Fiction collection that is shelved by the Parenting Collection so parents/caregivers can locate information easily. We have created a true learning experience in our space. Large labels are on items around the room to help with reading. There is a designated baby/toddler area. Within this area are age appropriate toys both fine and gross motor. We even have two ride on toys. There are books and toys, tables and chairs, activities to do and a bench to sit and read together.  Our demographics have changed and we find grandparents and nanny's staying for a significant time frame.  To accommodate these young children we have stations set up around he room to provide, STEM, early literacy, fine motor skills along with take home activities. New to our area is the alternating STEM / Dramatic Play area.  We welcome all to come in and experience the dynamic staff, wonder of books, the excitement of play and the information available at fingertips to help children become all they are meant to be.
