The Rogers Memorial Library is dedicated to inspiring and serving the educational, cultural and lifelong learning needs of our communities by providing information, materials, programs and state of the art services to all visitors. The Family Department is dedicated to serving our young patronage and the adults/caregivers in their lives. We offer daily programs from children under the age of 12 with a morning focus on our babies, toddlers and preschoolers. In addition to early literacy programs and story times we also offer sensory programs, music programs, craft programs and programs focusing on gross motor skills. We continue to have a virtual presence as well which maintains a strong following. Make and Take crafts continue to be popular and our social media platforms remain well utilized to offer programs, advertise, showcase, educate and provide information links and on-line support. We also offer both our Winter and Summer Reading Programs through an online platform but the children report on their books in-person. Our Parenting Collection undergoes two major extensive weeding and updating processes throughout they year however the collection is added to on a regular basis as titles become available. Our children's and parenting print collections account for 30-40% of the library's total monthly circulation, indicating the value of print and tangible items. We also provide an assortment of digital resources such as LOTE4Kids, Parent TV and have our own YouTube channel. Our homeschooling resources have also maintained steady usage. Outreach to our schools, day care centers, local pantries continue and various 'donation drives' (school supplies, food, eyeglasses, sports equipment) are steady. We also work with other professionals that serve children in a less formal way. By this, I mean providing a variety of opportunities for casual interactions between caregivers and professionals but with potentially significant results. Our families, and our overall patronage, continue to value the library as a place for both educational and social development within our community. I believe they view us as a hub and cultural center providing the tools needed to help, encourage and educate their children as well as themselves as parents, caregivers, and adults. We are hoping to incorporate improved spaces following our renovation in the Spring of 2025 and look forward to the other enhancements and opportunities ahead!
