Parma-Powers Branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library opened in October 2013 and has been a Family Place Library from the beginning. The Children's Room serves children from birth to 5th grade. The large preschool area features a train table, interactives and murals, all with art and nursery rhymes from Rosemary Wells and Iona Opie's books. Storytimes are informed by Family Place principles to help parents teach their babies, toddlers and preschoolers the skills they need to grow and be ready to read. Preschool and Kindergarten readiness programs introduce skills to get ready for the classroom. English Language Learning at CCPL is an intensive summer program of language and school readiness for preschoolers from immigrant families. Afterschool meals and summer lunches are served free to all children through a partnership with Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Play Learn and Grow Baby Club is a fun, child-directed learning experience for families with children birth to 35 months. Caregivers appreciate the developmental and social growth they see over the five weeks their babies and toddlers participate in the Workshops. Family Place is part of the CCPL mission to empower individuals and communities by providing opportunities for all to read, learn, create and connect.
