Eastern Lancaster County Library

Families with children of all ages are welcomed into our colorful and engaging Family Place Library. Our children’s area is located on the lower level of our building and it was specifically designed for children ages 12 and under. A large tree painted onto a structural column greets you as you enter, and we have hand painted murals all around. Picture books are conveniently housed in child-sized bins and our board books are shelved so that both young children and adult caregivers may browse through them. We store baskets of toys and stuffed animals underneath the book bins for easy access and easy clean up, and we have two activity tables filled with wooden trains and Duplo® Bricks.We offer a parent-child workshop, “1-2-3 Play With Me,” twice a year for toddlers ages 1 to 3 and their caregivers, which is well attended. Our staff visits local early learning centers providing early literacy outreach and information inviting the students’ families back to our library.
