Northwest Branch - Harris County Library

The Northwest Branch Library Family Place Center is a space created to welcome families with young children by providing an enriching environment filled with interactive toys chosen to promote learning and creativity and encourage play between children and their caregivers. The spaces include comfortable seating and educational resources for parents, many toys such as a puppet stage, play kitchen, blocks, stackers, trucks and puzzles as well as an art center for children. We are the first in our system and are setting the example for more to join us in the future. It has been a positive change for the community. We have gotten favorable comments, such as; we stay longer and come more often to meet friends; the children look forward to coming to the library and it is a wonderful, safe and fun place to be. The parenting collection is well used and the workshops fill up fast.  First time visitors are amazed at how open, friendly, and exciting the library is and want to make visiting us part of their weekly routine.
