South Irving Library

Discover With Me Interactive Workshop is a sought after workshop offered twice a year that draws in new families each time we offer it. We have a dedicated group of resource professionals who donate their time to mingle with families, to provide information on child development, to answer caregiver’s questions, and to model play with young children. The delight we see on the children’s faces each time they come into the room and run towards their favorite play space is well worth the effort! We receive positive feedback from parents who ask for the workshop to be held more often. Quote from Post-Survey- What do you like most about this program?: “Giving my son the chance to experience other toys, interact with other kids, and getting to know the other parents/care-givers in a less structured environment. Discover With Me Play Space is on the second floor of the South Irving Library in the children’s area. A highly popular and very interactive area proves its popularity with children and caregivers alike. Many customers visit just to see and photograph the space and plenty visit with children, especially on hot summer days when being indoors is preferable. Board books, picture books and parenting information is nearby for easy access enabling parents to browse topics and/or read to their children. To ensure safety of our staff and customers, our typical Discover with Me workshops moved to a virtual format in 2021. The presentations were dynamic and engaging. While views were low in comparison to our in-person workshop, those that viewed provided positive feedback on the presentations and the make and take Discover With Me kits that went home to families that came by the library to pick them up were a huge hit.
