The Tyler Public Library became a Family Place Library in 2017 to better serve the young children and their parents and caregivers in our community, and we are excited to share updates as a Family Place Library this year! We have continued to see an increase in our parent-child workshop, which we call "Discovery Time Playgroup." As we continue to enhance our early childhood services, our library has now twice collaborated with local children and family services in our area to host an annual Baby Block Party event focused on educating families about early childhood development and connecting them with resources, and in summer of 2024, we are set to host the third annual event. We also have hosted several themed early childhood playdays filled with sensory exploration and play and have experienced excellent engagement in storytimes. Additionally, this year we have started monthly playday events and a Music Makers program focused on music, singing, and movement.
