Octavia Fields Branch Library - Harris County Library

The Family Place Library inside the Octavia Fields Branch has provided an immense and valuable resource for Humble and the surrounding communities. The play area and parenting collection in the children's area has seen daily use since its inception in 2019. The area consists of three bins of toys and manipulatives that are rotated semi-monthly, a kitchen space, vests for imaginative play, a mirror, three child size couches, and a magnetic board with cogs. The space also provides child-sized tables for coloring and ample seating for both kids and adults.

On top of providing valuable hands-on tools for parents/caregivers and children, staff are knowledgeable and able to explain the mission of Family Place Libraries, such as how the location helps create future readers. Staff also host Parent-Child Workshops twice a year, bringing resource professionals and families together in a stress-free and casual atmosphere. Story times are held twice a week throughout the year and to-go crafts are available at various times during the year.
