The Hillsboro City Library joined the Family Place Libraries Network in March of 2019. Since that time, our children's department has been transformed into a community destination for fun, informative, and quality family programming. Our Family Place Library serves as a safe indoor space in the community for families from all backgrounds to come socialize, learn, develop, and grow together. The children's department is home to a wide number of developmentally appropriate toys designed to assist in growing those important early childhood development skills. These toys promote imaginative play, develop literacy skills, and build fine and gross motor abilities. Our Let's Play! Together. program serves as our Parent Child Workshop. These twice a year, five week workshops are held in the Spring and Fall. We also have a weekly preschool storytime for ages 0 - 5. In addition, we offer monthly Toddler Play Dates that incorporate portions of the Parent Child Workshop. In addition to our fun early learning programs we also provide parents and caregivers with access to information and resources through our community partnerships on early literacy, nutrition, and child development. Parents and caregivers visiting our early childhood space will find a number of books, pamphlets, DVD's and other resources to assist them in answering any questions they may have. The Hillsboro City Library is proud to be a member of the Family Place Libraries and look forward to learning, playing, and growing with the youngest members of our community.
