North Liberty is a city that truly fosters and values play for all ages and at the North Liberty Library (NLL), we know that early learning and family engagement are key. Becoming the first Family Place Library in Iowa (designated in 2019) has been a thrilling and impactful addition to the NLL’s services. Located in a multi-use community center that also houses a recreation center, aquatic center, and a before and after school childcare program, NLL is open 67 hours a week. Our library is an essential hub in our growing community of over 22,000 people and offers impactful services appreciated by members of our community and the whole county. The library’s brightly appointed children’s area has two dedicated spaces to serve our youngest patrons. In the Learning Center (LC), families have access to large toys such as a rocking boat, an art station, and a dramatic play area in addition to other developmental toys and on the library floor, comfortable seating and multiple activity areas create a warm atmosphere where parents and caregivers engage their children in play, cozy up to read a book, and connect with one another.
