Family Place has led our library to open up to learning in all its forms.  We encourage learning through play and are encouraging our families to do the same.  We are educating families that learning can take place through more hands-on means and that libraries are not the quiet places they remember from their own childhoods. Monroeville Public Library is using our parent-child workshops, we call ours Toddler University, to bring in families that believed their child to be too young to get anything out of the library.  They thought their child to be too young to sit through a story.  Our diverse community is finding common ground in having their young child learn about and explore the world together as they get to ask questions and be reassured.  Family Place is also bringing staff together in the importance of making sure that families are informed and have access to resources. It has given the staff confidence in serving our patrons and their young families.
