Lone Star College CyFair Branch Library - Harris County Public Library

CyFair Branch became a Family Place Library in January 2023. We are one of the busiest branches of the Harris County Public Library system and are located in a rapidly growing community.  We offer approximately 18-20 weekly programs in the children's department, with total attendance of around 825 in story times. The parenting collection, which is shelved directly in the Family Place play area, currently consists of 397 titles and is ever growing and adapting to the needs of our community. Our play area is heavily utilized on a daily basis, and feedback from parents suggests they greatly appreciate the space. The only time the play area is ever quiet is at the very beginning and very end of each day. We see children learn from and play with other children, as well as parents connection with other parents. When young children arrive at the library, they make a beeline for the space. We see them telling stories for the dollhouse dolls, cooking fantastical meals in the kitchen, and creating adventures for the dinosaurs, who we find scattered about the kids area at all times. It is very apparent how much our community loves the Family Place area and how they use it to its fullest extent.
